Making my own Hybrid Pepper

Creating and naming my very own Hybrid Pepper in 2026.

In 2025 I spent time trying to create my very first hybrid pepper. I didn’t want to make anything crazy for my first attempt but more simple. I have this special pepper I grow called a Blanquito pepper. I used that and crossed it with a grande Pequin. The plant itself with its shape and size is more of the Blanquito. The peppers come out more Pequin like but a bit bigger and still has a nice kick too. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but was rather happy and surprised with my results. The next part came to naming my new creation. Now in 2024 my father fell very sick and later passed away. He never got to see my start my own company and really step into this new role in my life. He was able to see me turn into an amazing gardener and enjoy the delicious jalapenos i grew for him when I would come to visit. In honor of him and his legacy I named my pepper after my father. His name was Bernie and was born in 1956 so the name is FTB56. This stand for Feel The Bern 56. I felt this was one of the greatest ways I could honor the man he was and the man he helped me to become. Having this pepper in my garden is also like seeing him and spending time with him every day. It is comforting to me knowing I will always have him around me in one way or another. Later this year I will finally have my pepper for sale for others to try and enjoy. This is just a small step and I can’t wait to make some more cooler and hotter hybrid peppers.

Stay Spicy my friends.
